Welcome to The Upholsterers Workshop
The upholsterers Workshop was established in 1996 and for over twenty years we have been keeping alive the skills of the traditional upholsterer. I started as a trainee upholsterer in 1976 with B Burden and Son a small father and son business with a reputation for producing high quality work, although having tried other things I have always been drawn back to the craft of traditional upholstery.
I have been lucky enough to have travelled the world with my skills as an upholsterer ( France, Germany,Spain, Australia and Burmuda) and I have worked aboard Cunard and P&O cruise liners.

Traditional Upholstery
A truly tradition upholstery service using traditional methods and materials, we still use jute webbing, coil springs, hair, skin wadding and twines made from natural fibres, we even use tacks. Many upholsterers claim to offer a traditional service but, in reality modern materials such as rubberised hair, zig-zag springs or spring units are often used which is fine when used on modern furniture. We like things to be as they should be. Take a look at our picture gallery and see how the upholstery is constructed to build up the shape of the piece, the way it should be done.
We provide a regular collection and delivery service in London and throughout Sussex, Kent, Suffolk and Norfolk.
